Vinted UK members must accept the new T&Cs from 8 October 2026 to keep using the app. The buyer-paid Vinted fee and the 48-hour counterfeit evidence window are written into this version.
What changed
Vinted has published a new version of its user Terms and Conditions for the UK. The page says the updated terms come into effect on 8 October 2026, and that members need to review and accept them to carry on using Vinted. Until that date the current terms apply.
We read the new version end to end rather than relying on summaries. We did not have the previous version side by side, so this brief reports what the 8 October text says, not a line-by-line diff of what is new. Vinted's own accept screen is the place to see its list of changes.
Three parts of the text matter most to sellers. First, the Vinted fee. The terms describe it as a mandatory platform fee that the buyer pays when placing an order. It appears in the price breakdown on each listing and is added to the total at checkout. The payment held in escrow covers four things: the item price, the shipping fee, the Vinted fee and any optional services. The wording puts the fee on the buyer, not on you.
Second, counterfeits. If Vinted sees strong evidence that an item is a counterfeit reported under its 'significantly not as described' route, it tells the seller. The seller then has 48 hours to give Vinted evidence that the item is authentic. If the seller cannot or does not, the transaction is cancelled and the buyer gets a refund without having to send the item back.
Third, escalations. When a buyer and seller disagree and the case is escalated, the terms say Vinted reviews the case, may ask both sides for information and evidence, and decides whether it qualifies for a refund under its refund policy. Both sides agree to respect that final decision.
The terms also set out who the contracting company is for UK members: Vinted Platform Limited, with a registered London address. If you also use Vinted in the EU, those markets have their own terms pages, so do not assume the UK text applies there.
Who it affects
Every UK Vinted member is affected, because continued use depends on accepting the new terms. Sellers of branded or high-value items are the most exposed to the counterfeit clause, since a 48-hour response window is short if your proof of authenticity is in a box somewhere.
What to do
- Accept the terms in the app or on the site before 8 October so your account is not interrupted.
- Keep proof of authenticity for branded items: receipts, tags, original packaging photos. Be ready to send it within 48 hours of a notice.
- When you price an item, remember that the buyer pays the Vinted fee on top, so compare your listing with what a buyer sees at checkout, not just your own price.
- Read the full text on the Vinted UK page linked below if you sell as a business; business sellers have extra obligations described elsewhere on Vinted.
