Will Vinted, eBay or Etsy report my sales to the tax office?
Platforms in the EU and UK must report sellers who pass a threshold, and US marketplaces issue Form 1099-K above theirs. Pick your country, add the platforms you sell on and your numbers for this year. Each platform is checked on its own.
Result per platform
Choose your country first.
What it means
- Reporting is not a new tax. The platform sends your sales data to the tax authority. Whether you owe tax depends on your situation.
- Selling your own used belongings is generally not taxed in many places, but the rules differ by country and by how often you sell.
- Keep your records: what you sold, when, for how much and what you paid. They let you check the platform's yearly statement and answer questions later.
- Check the statement your platform sends you (EU/UK: each January) and ask for a correction if it is wrong.

Seller Ledger: keep your sales records
We are testing a simple ledger: log your sales, see each platform's count and total against its threshold, and export a year-end report of your records. It is not built yet. Join the early list and we will email you when it opens.

Tax reporting questions
What is DAC7?
DAC7 is an EU rule (Directive 2021/514) that has applied since 1 January 2024. Online platforms must collect seller details and report sales to the tax authority of the seller's country when a seller reaches 30 sales or more than EUR 2,000 on that platform in a year.
Does reporting mean I will be taxed?
No. Reporting is data sharing, not a tax. The platform tells the tax office what you sold. Whether tax is due depends on your country and situation.
Are my sales on different platforms added together?
No. The threshold is per platform. 20 sales on Vinted and 20 on eBay are two separate counts of 20, each below 30. The tax office can still see both reports.
Does the UK have the same rule?
Yes. Since 1 January 2024 the UK applies the same test: 30 or more sales, or more than EUR 2,000 (about GBP 1,700), on a platform in a year.
What is Form 1099-K in the US?
It is an information return that marketplaces send you and the IRS. The federal threshold is more than USD 20,000 and more than 200 transactions in a year. Some states set lower thresholds.
