Editorial policy
The Resale IQ news desk covers changes that affect people who resell: fees, rules, tax reporting and big platform news. This page says how we work.
Who writes it
The desk is run by Bilal Sbaiby, who founded Resale IQ, with help from AI tools for drafting and checking. Every brief is published under his name and he is responsible for it. Resale IQ is an independent company and is not affiliated with Vinted, eBay, Depop, Etsy, Poshmark, Mercari or Whatnot.
Sourcing rules
- Facts come from primary sources: the platform's own newsroom, help centre or terms page, an official earnings release, or a tax authority or government page.
- We open the source and read it. A search snippet, a forum post or another site's summary is never enough on its own. If we cannot verify a claim on a primary source, we do not publish it.
- Every brief lists its sources with the date on the source. If a page is undated, we give the date we read it and say so.
- We write in our own words. We quote at most one short sentence and say who said it.
- Where a source is silent (a fee, a date, a country), we say it is not stated rather than guess.
What we do not do
- No rumours, leaks or unverified screenshots.
- No promises about what you will earn. A change in a fee is a change in a fee, not a forecast.
- No tax or legal advice. We report what the authority says and point you to a qualified adviser.
- No paid placement. Ads on article pages are labelled and never decide what we cover.
Dates
Each brief shows the date we published it, the date of the change it describes, and an updated date if we edit it. Material edits are listed on the corrections page.
Corrections
If a brief is wrong, we fix it, change the updated date, and log the old text, the new text and the reason on the corrections page. Corrections are never silent.
