Vinted fee after the October 2026 terms: what you keep
Vinted's new terms call the buyer's mandatory charge the “Vinted fee” instead of the Buyer Protection fee. The EU terms took effect on 5 October 2026 and the UK terms on 8 October. The buyer pays it on top of the price. Vinted's help page still says selling is free for sellers, so your payout on a €20 item stays €20 before shipping and tax. What moves your profit is the price you paid for the item.
What changed in the October 2026 terms
Buyer Protection fee is now the “Vinted fee”
Checkout on every EU domain we checked (FR, DE, ES, IT, PT) and on the UK site now labels the charge “Vinted fee”. The local names are Vinted-Gebühr, Tasa de Vinted, Commissione Vinted, Taxa Vinted and frais Vinted. Vinted's EU help pages put it at typically 5% of the price plus €0.70, shown in the price breakdown and added at checkout. On vinted.co.uk the help page gives a range: usually 3% to 8% plus £0.30 to £0.80.
Sellers still pay no selling fee
Vinted's help page says uploading and selling cost private sellers nothing. The fee is the buyer's, so it does not come out of your payout. It does change what a buyer sees next to your listing.
Balances move from Mangopay to Vinted Pay
The terms say funds in your available and pending balance move to a new Vinted Balance managed by Vinted Pay. Vinted tells you beforehand and confirms afterwards. The switch does not apply to Pro seller accounts. You may need to pass an identity check. Date and wording differ by country, so read your country's page.
Counterfeit notices: 48 hours to show authenticity
If Vinted sees strong evidence that an item is counterfeit, the seller has 48 hours to give evidence that it is authentic. Otherwise the order is cancelled and the buyer is refunded. The clause is in the UK terms and in Vinted's FR, DE, ES, IT and PT terms.
Counterfeit items: held six weeks, then destroyed
Vinted's terms say an item that fails Item Verification, the service a buyer pays for, is kept for six weeks from Vinted's notice. In that time the seller can challenge with proof. After that Vinted may dispose of, recycle or destroy it. It does not apply to every counterfeit report.
Worked example: a €20 item
At the typical EU rate of 5% + €0.70, the Vinted fee on a €20 item is €1.70, so the buyer pays €21.70 before shipping. You still receive €20. The profit calculation below is unchanged: price minus what you paid for the item minus your own shipping and costs. Vinted can change the rate by order type, so the checkout summary is the final word.

What to do this week
- Accept the new terms when Vinted asks, and activate Vinted Pay if it prompts you, so your balance is not blocked.
- Keep proof of authenticity (receipt, tags, packaging photos) for branded items, enough to send within 48 hours.
- Price against the buyer's total, not just your own number: compare your listing with what a buyer sees at checkout.
- Use the buy price as your lever. The fee does not touch your payout, so the margin is decided before you buy.
The fee is not where your profit is decided
Your payout stays the same, so the number that matters is the price you pay before listing. Resale IQ shows a buy-below price for a Vinted item from watched departures (listings that disappeared), not confirmed sales. Resale IQ covers Vinted FR, DE, ES, IT and PT, and you get 10 free item checks a day. The price checker page shows what a verdict looks like.
Vinted fee questions
Is the Vinted fee the same as the Buyer Protection fee?
In Vinted's October 2026 terms the buyer's mandatory fee is called the Vinted fee. Vinted's EU help pages still give the typical amount as 5% of the price plus €0.70, shown at checkout; vinted.co.uk gives 3% to 8% plus £0.30 to £0.80. The name changed in the terms and at checkout; check your own checkout summary for the exact amount.
Does the Vinted fee reduce what I earn as a seller?
No. The buyer pays it on top of the item price. Vinted's help page says selling is free for private sellers. Your costs are shipping you pay, tax and what you paid for the item.
Do I have to move to Vinted Pay?
The terms say balances managed through Mangopay move to Vinted Pay and that you may need to accept its terms and pass identity checks. It does not apply to Pro seller accounts. Check the exact wording and date on your country's terms page.
How long do I have to answer a counterfeit notice?
Vinted's terms give 48 hours to provide evidence of authenticity. Read the clause on your country's page, and keep receipts and tag photos for branded items.
