eBay's Q2 2026 results: what they say for sellers

By Bilal Sbaiby · Published

eBay reported $22.4 billion in Q2 GMV, up 15%, and says eBay Live volume grew about eight times. It also widened Authenticity Guarantee to more than 100 fashion brands in the US and UK.

Date of the change: 5 August 2026

What changed

eBay Inc. published its second-quarter 2026 results on 5 August 2026, covering the quarter that ended 30 June. We read the release itself and pulled out the lines that touch people who sell on the marketplace.

The headline numbers: revenue of $3.1 billion, up 15% as reported and 14% excluding currency effects, and gross merchandise volume (GMV) of $22.4 billion, up 15% as reported and 14% on a currency-neutral basis. GMV is the total value of items bought on the marketplace, so it measures demand, not seller earnings.

The seller-facing highlights in the release are these. eBay Live, the live-selling format, had another record quarter, with GMV up roughly eight times year on year across its seven markets. eBay expanded Authenticity Guarantee to more than 100 fashion brands in the US and UK, and added the Enquirus database of registered luxury watches across the US, UK and Germany. For trading cards, it extended Authenticity Guarantee to UK cards valued at over £500 and widened eligibility for its PSA grading option to pack-pulled autographed cards in the US.

eBay also said it simplified consumer-to-consumer selling in Australia with AI-powered listing tools, simpler shipping, secure payments and stronger buyer protections.

The release confirms the Depop acquisition closed on 30 July 2026. The third-quarter outlook includes Depop: eBay guides to GMV of $22.0 to $22.4 billion and revenue of $3.07 to $3.12 billion.

What the release does not do is announce a change to seller fees. If you are looking for a fee change, this is not it; eBay's fee announcements come through its own seller pages, which we track separately. Treat the figures as context about demand, not as a signal about fees.

Who it affects

Sellers of fashion, luxury watches and trading cards are the most directly affected, because those are the categories where eBay widened authentication. Sellers who use or plan to use eBay Live also gain from the growth eBay reports. Sellers in other categories see no direct change.

What to do

  • If you sell branded fashion, check whether your brands are now covered by Authenticity Guarantee and how that changes your listing and shipping steps.
  • UK card sellers: items over £500 are in scope for authentication; check the process before listing.
  • Do not read the results as a fee signal. Check eBay's seller fees page for your marketplace before you reprice.
