How to Respond to a Lowball Offer on Vinted

Independent analysis from live listing data.

Short answer

Set a floor price before offers arrive: what you paid, packaging and the profit you want. Accept above it, counter between, decline below. Three reply templates

Floor price

The lowest offer you will accept on an item: what you paid, plus packaging, plus the profit you want. Any offer at or above it earns the profit you planned; any offer below it means you pay to sell. It is your own number and it never appears in the listing.

To answer a lowball offer on Vinted, compare it with your floor price, set before the message arrives: what you paid, plus packaging, plus the profit you want. Accept anything at or above the floor, counter once if the offer sits between floor and price, and decline politely below it. Deciding the number first removes the guesswork and the annoyance.

How do you work out your floor price?

Add three numbers: what you paid for the item, what the packaging costs, and the profit that makes the sale worth your time. In the standard flow the buyer pays shipping, so it is not in the sum. If you offer free shipping, add it.

Example with invented inputs: a jacket bought for €12, €1 of packaging and a target of €8 gives a €21 floor. The listing sits at €44.90, the median asking price in our check of Patagonia Synchilla on 18 October 2026. So the floor is about 47% of the ask, and an offer of half is still above it.

Three blocks adding up to a floor price: paid 12 euros, packaging 1 euro, profit wanted 8 euros, giving 21 euros

What is a lowball offer, and is it always an insult?

A lowball offer is one well under your asking price. It is only too low if it is under your floor. Many buyers open low because offers are cheap to send, and a first offer is often a question: how much room is there?

That is why the number matters more than the feeling. An offer at 60% of a €44.90 ask is €26.94 and still leaves €13.94 on the example jacket. The same offer on an item you paid €28 for loses money. Same percentage, opposite answers.

When should you accept, counter or decline?

Accept when the offer is at or near your price, and ship quickly. Counter when it sits between floor and price: meet part-way once, with a reason, rather than trading messages. Decline when it is under your floor, and keep the price.

Here is wording for each, adapt it to your voice. Accept: "Deal, thanks. I will post it tomorrow." Counter: "Thanks for the offer. I can do €34 as it is in great condition, and I will bundle if you like." Decline: "Thanks, but that is under what I can accept. The price stays, and I will message you if it drops."

Three columns: offer near your price means accept, between floor and price means counter, below floor means decline
Three zones, three replies.

How do you know your price is right before offers come in?

Offers reflect the price you set. If everything you list gets half-price offers, check the range of comparable asking prices first: a listing above the median invites low offers, one at the median is usually answered near its price. Check the range for your item in the free item check →

Then leave sensible room. Price a little above the lowest price you would happily take, so a fair offer lands on your target. Do not inflate by a fixed percentage on every item, because the cushion that suits a €60 jacket will scare off buyers of a €10 top.

Frequently asked questions

How low is too low for an offer on Vinted?

Too low is anything under your floor price: what you paid, plus packaging, plus the profit you want. There is no fixed percentage. An offer at 60% of the ask is fine on an item you paid little for and a loss on one you paid a lot for.

Should I accept the first offer I get?

Accept it if it is at or above your floor and you are happy with the profit. A first offer above the floor is a sale you planned for, and waiting for a higher one costs time and risks losing the buyer.

Should I counter a lowball offer or ignore it?

Counter once if it sits between your floor and your price, with a short reason. Decline politely if it is under your floor. Silence works, but a one-line reply keeps the buyer's attention if you drop the price later.

How do I calculate my floor price?

Add what you paid, your packaging cost and the profit you want. If you offer free shipping, add the carrier cost. For a €12 item with €1 packaging and an €8 target, the floor is €21.

Does the Vinted fee come out of my payout when I accept an offer?

No. Vinted's help page says selling is free for private sellers, and the buyer pays the Vinted fee on top of the agreed price. You receive the accepted amount before any shipping you chose to cover.
