Best shipping scale for resellers
For clothing-weight parcels the step size matters more than the capacity. The Brecknell PS-USB in its 15 kg version reads in 5 g steps, which suits light parcels. The DYMO S50 weighs up to 50 kg but reads in 100 g steps (±200 g), so keep it for heavy or bulky items. A 5 kg kitchen scale with 1 g steps often does the job for under-2 kg parcels. We list only two models because only two had a spec sheet we could read.

How we picked these
Researched picks, not tested. We compared specs from each maker's own page (linked under every product, read on October 4, 2026), and kept only facts a maker states. Where a spec is a maker's claim, it says so. We did not test these products and we do not use star ratings or review scores. Prices change daily, so we show only the maker's dated price where one exists and send you to the store for today's price.
Brecknell PS-USB (15 kg)
The 15 kg version reads in 5 g steps on a 355 × 305 mm stainless platform and runs on adapter, AA batteries or USB.
Who it's for: Sellers who ship shoes, jackets and bundles and want weights close to carrier bands.
Flaws to know about
- Its trade approvals listed are NTEP and Measurement Canada, not EU.
- Supplied by a US maker: check the adapter plug or run it on batteries or USB.

DYMO S50
50 kg capacity with USB, and the manual states 100 g steps and ±200 g accuracy.
Who it's for: Sellers shipping boots, coats, bulk lots or small furniture.
Flaws to know about

- 100 g steps are coarse for a 300 g T-shirt parcel.

|---|---|
| Accuracy (manual) | ±200 g, "not legal for trade" |

What to skip
- DYMO S100 for clothing. Same 100 g steps as the S50 with a 100 kg capacity. Its maker page also says the scale software supports only Windows 8.1 and macOS 10.14 and below. (source)
Step size against carrier weight bands
Carriers price in weight bands. If a band breaks at 500 g, a scale with 100 g steps can read 400 g on a 480 g parcel. Open the shipping comparer, look at where your usual carrier's bands break, and buy a scale with steps smaller than the gap between your parcel and the band.
A kitchen scale is a fair option
Salter says most of its digital kitchen scales have a 5 to 10 kg capacity and 1 g accuracy (salter.com). That covers most clothing parcels. We did not read a full spec sheet for a single model, so we do not recommend one.
Do you need USB?
USB matters only if you want weights to flow into shipping software. If you type the weight by hand, a battery scale with a clear display is enough.
Questions
What capacity do I need to weigh clothing parcels?
Most clothing parcels are light, so capacity is rarely the limit. The step size decides whether you hit the right carrier band. Check the bands in the shipping comparer.
Is the DYMO S50 accurate enough for light parcels?
Its manual lists 0.1 kg steps and ±200 g accuracy, so it is better for heavy items than for light clothing.
Do I need a trade-approved scale?
Only if you sell by weight. For weighing your own parcels before posting, a trade approval is not needed. The DYMO manual marks it 'not legal for trade'; the Brecknell lists NTEP and Measurement Canada approvals, which are not EU approvals.
Did you test these scales?
No. Specs come from the makers' pages and the DYMO manual, read on 4 October 2026. We did not test them and did not use review scores.
