How it works

  1. Step 1

    Search

Type a keyword or a brand, for example a model name. Keep all six countries or pick the ones you care about.

  2. Step 2

    We ask eBay

For each country we ask the official eBay API for the active listings that best match your search.

  3. Step 3

    Compare

You get the asking-price distribution per country in local currency, plus listings count, free shipping and condition mix.

What you see for every country

  • Median and range

The median asking price, with the 25th to 75th percentile band and the minimum and maximum.

  • Active listings

The number of active listings eBay reports for your search in that market.

  • Free shipping share

  • Top categories

Where the listings sit, so you can spot a search that mixes different kinds of items.

  • Condition mix

New, pre-owned and other conditions as a share of the listings we looked at.

  • Cheapest and most expensive

Real examples with links to the listing on eBay, so you can check the outliers yourself.

How we know: data source and method

Short and plain, so you can judge what the numbers are worth.

  • Source: the official eBay Browse API. It exposes active listings only.
  • What you see is asking prices: what sellers are asking today, not what items end up selling for.
  • Sample-based: statistics use the top 200 best-match listings per country, not every listing on eBay. The page tells you the exact sample size for each country.
  • Local currency: GBP, EUR and USD are shown as they are. We do not convert between them.
  • Withheld, not guessed: if a country returns too few listings or data that does not add up, we show no figure for it.

Questions

Are these the prices items actually sell for?

No. They are asking prices on active eBay listings, taken from the official eBay API, which does not expose completed sales. Use them to see where the market is positioned today.

Why only the top 200 listings?

The numbers are based on the top 200 best-match listings per country. That keeps every search fast and within eBay's API limits. For very large searches it is a sample, not the whole market, and each country shows its sample size.

Why are prices not converted to one currency?

Each country is shown in its own currency (GBP, EUR, US dollars). Converting would add an exchange rate that moves every day and could mislead, so we leave the amounts as listed.

Which countries are covered?

The United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the United States, using each country's eBay marketplace.

Why does a country show no figures?

We withhold a country's numbers when eBay returns too few listings or data that is inconsistent. A missing figure is better than a wrong one.

Is it free?

You can run 3 searches a day without an account and 20 a day with a free account. Pro has no daily limit. Cached results count as searches.

Does it tell me what to buy or what I will earn?

No. It shows what is asked on eBay today. It is research input, not advice, and it does not promise any profit.
